Spring break is a great time to unwind and relax from exams and studying. It is also a time where many individuals travel locally, nationally, and internationally. Wherever you decide to go, it is important to travel safely.
If you decide that you will be traveling internationally, be mindful that many diseases that are not present in the U.S. are present in different regions of the world. Plan ahead and make a travel medicine appointment at the Student Health Services here.
If you are traveling to other places besides Western Europe, Canada, and Australia, plan your travel appointment at least 6 weeks before your scheduled departure. At the Student Health Services, you can get several immunizations, malaria prophylaxis, antibiotics for travelers’ diarrhea as well as travel advice specific to your destination. Make sure to bring your travel itinerary and vaccination records with you to your travel medicine appointment.
